Trust His Way, See It Through

Psalms 37:5

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Good morning, church family. As I was making my tea this morning, I was thinking about all the things we plan for our week ahead – the school run, that work project, perhaps a doctor’s appointment or just getting the shopping done. We map things out, hoping it all goes smoothly. It’s natural to want to be in control, isn’t it? To have a clear path and know where we’re going.

Today's verse from Psalms 37:5 speaks directly to this desire for direction, but with a divine twist: "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." In ancient times, to 'commit' something often meant to roll it onto someone else, to literally hand it over for them to carry or deal with. So, when David tells us to commit our way to the Lord, he’s not just suggesting a prayer, but a real, tangible surrender of our plans, our worries, our entire journey to Him. It's about letting go of the reins and trusting His guiding hand.

This isn't a passive surrender, but an active trust. It means that when those disappointments hit – perhaps a setback at work, or a difficult conversation with a family member – we consciously choose to believe that God is still in control and working for our good. It means obeying His prompts, even when His way doesn't seem to make immediate sense to our earthly minds. He promises that when we do this, He "shall bring it to pass." He will bring His good, perfect, and pleasing will to fruition in our lives, in His timing and in His way.

So, as we step into this new day, let's remember that our God is faithful. He isn't asking us to blindly hope, but to confidently entrust our paths to the One who knows the end from the beginning. Whether it's a big decision or a small daily task, let's roll it onto Him and watch Him work.
